A Progressive Crew to Skipper Training Programme

LEARN FIRST, THEN LEAD

Two consecutive live‑aboard weeks from Athens. Week one builds sea sense, practical crewing and confidence; week two steps up to skippering on genuine passages with clear objectives and focused debriefs. On successful completion you’ll receive RYA Competent Crew at the end of week one and, on successful completion of week two, RYA Day Skipper (recognised by charter companies worldwide).

  • Crew skills: ropework, sail handling, helming & lookout; safety routines (lifejacket use, MOB awareness); assist with Med‑mooring & anchoring
  • Skipper skills: plan & execute short coastal passages; pilotage (day/night); apply practical navigation & COLREGs; close‑quarters boat handling

LIVE-aboard weeks

Between training runs there’s time to enjoy the sea—snorkelling in clear bays, espresso on deck, and easy sunset strolls ashore—so you finish with new skills and the simple joy of life afloat.

  • Courses start every week (Saturday → Friday)
  • Explore by island‑hopping (typically 3–5 islands)
  • Well‑equipped 45‑foot yachts (ratio of 5 Students : 1 Instructor)

Training Areas

Saronic & Cyclades Islands

Saturday evening:
Board Saturday evening at 19:30 for a welcome and on‑board safety briefing.

Sunday – Thursday:
Sail Sunday–Thursday. Hands‑on training with island‑hopping (typically 3–5 islands; route shaped by weather and learning goals). You’ll work on personal safety, seamanship, helmsmanship, pilotage, practical navigation, yacht handling and a night passage.

Friday:
Disembark Friday by 09:00. RYA Day Skipper certificates are issued immediately on successful completion.

Weather & routing note:
Whether we sail to the Saronic or the Cyclades Islands is decided by the Instructor based on the forecast and conditions at the time.

Skipper and charter a sailing yacht safely in waters in which you are familiar

Just one hour from Athens, Aegina is known for its pistachio groves, neoclassical harbor, and steady coastal winds.

A frequent first stop during training routes, it offers calm anchorages, clear navigation references, and a perfect balance between seamanship practice and island life.

A small, pine-covered island with crystal-clear waters and simple navigation.

Ideal for relaxed anchorages and short passages, Agistri is often used to practice coastal approaches, anchoring techniques, and night stops in a quiet, controlled environment.

Separated from the Peloponnese by a narrow channel, Poros combines busy harbor life with protected sailing waters.

Its channel navigation, marina approaches, and increased traffic make it a valuable stop for developing situational awareness and close-quarters boat handling.

Marked by the Temple of Poseidon, Cape Sounio is both a visual landmark and a navigational reference.

The area is often used to introduce headlands, wind acceleration zones, and passage planning around exposed points.

Close to Athens yet deeply historical, Salamina sits within a complex and active maritime area.

Sailing here offers exposure to commercial traffic, varied coastlines, and practical chart interpretation in real-world conditions.

A small coastal settlement facing open water, Korfos is known for its strong winds and simple harbor layout.

It’s frequently used for training in wind awareness, mooring under pressure, and decision-making in less sheltered conditions.

Located on a volcanic peninsula, Methana offers dramatic landscapes and clear coastal routes.

Its surroundings provide an excellent setting for passage planning, anchoring practice, and understanding seabed conditions.

A historic harbor near the famous ancient theater, combining calm waters with cultural significance.

Often used as a destination anchorage, it’s ideal for refining arrival procedures, harbor etiquette, and end-of-passage routines.
